OUR STORY

The dream that later became Tuatahi first grew from the fertile soil within the beautiful community of Wainuiomata. The concept centred around our people, and the idea that every human being has a right to a warm, safe place to call home. We believed that we could make a significant and positive impact in our world. We wanted to tackle the homeless issue’s which was facing our communities.

To do this and to make a significant and measurable impact in 2017 we opened our first Emergency Housing home for single females. It consisted of 9-bedroom, 2 bathrooms and a shared living area, with 2 unpaid staff member. This was the launching pad of our successful organisation today. We have learnt the hard way, making mistakes and learning from them and the experience we gained is a valuable resource as we continue to take Tuatahi to the next level.

From this humble beginning, we continue to touch lives of so many. It was equally important that we had the right team, with a Big heart.

It is our heart that we exceptionally rewarded people who work hard and have a great attitude, regardless of any prejudices that those people may elsewhere be subject to.

It was about giving the underdog a fair chance. To treat people fairly yet also pushing them to achieve the best results they can, effectively being strong and courageous but maintain a human touch.

As our organisation evolved we know that it has changed some people’s lives dramatically. Helping others has been the heartbeat of Tuatahi.
